DECEMBER 20, 2014 – The winter break is a great time to research college scholarship opportunities. We’ve put together a list of scholarships that students and families may be interested in. Check out the list below!

Herff Jones Believe In You Scholarship & Principal’s Award | Nov1- Feb 8, 2015 | National award with criteria of academic success, community service and exemplary leadership. One senior nominated by Advisors or Principal per school. Scholarship awards range from $2,000-$12,000. |
Elks National Foundation-Most Valuable Student | December 5, 2014 | Judged on scholarship, leadership, financial need. Do not need to be related to an ELK to enter. Scholarships range from $1,000-$12,500/ year for 4 years. |
Carson Scholars Fund | Deadline 12/19/14 for nomination | Grade 4-11. Minimum GPA 3.75 on 4.o scale for current year. Strong humanitarian qualities, community service and go beyond what is required in school. |
The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship | Applications must be submitted by 12/31/14. Contests are held in the month of February. The finals are held 3/7/15 | Applicants must be citizens of the U.S. and are required to deliver a PREPARED ORATION which must be original and not less than 8 minutes but no longer than 10 minutes in duration. The oration must be based on some phase of the Constitution. |
AXA Achievement Scholarship | December 15, 2014 | Seniors who are active in the community, have overcome a personal challenge or led a project that benefits others. |
NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award | December 18, 2014 | Student must be running their own small business in order to be considered. 1,000 word essay describing their entrepreneurial experience. Scholarship amount $1,00-$10,000 |
First Credit Union Scholarship | December 31, 2014 | Must be a member of First Credit Union ( Students may join now) Minimum GPA 2.5. Essay. Must also serve on a focus group of how to improve credit union services for young adults. Must plan to attend Arizona university, college or trade school full-time. |
Ingredients of Outliers Scholarship | Deadline 12/31/14 | Juniors and Senior may apply. Must read choice of two Ingredients of Young Outliers books and produce a video focusing on ONE of three concepts. Five $2,000 scholarships are awarded. |

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program | Deadline 1/8/15 | $10,000 annually renewable aware for up to 20 students. Attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Minimum 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale. Demonstrate financial need. |
ASU Leadership Scholarship Program | Deadline 1/9/15 | 25 students are chosen to participate. Must be nominated by high school counselor. 3.2 unweighted GPA. $9,000 scholarship renewable award. History of community service and volunteering. Call Joel Todd at 480-965-6822 for more information. Each high school can nominate numerous students (change from prior years). |
Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund | Deadline 1/9/15 | Must be Asian or Pacific Islander and U.S. citizen, GPA of 2.7+ and must file for FAFSA to be eligible. |
Gates Millenium Scholars | Deadline 1/14/15 | Highly selective scholarship–1,000 recipients. Requirements: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, citizen or legal permanent resident of the US, GPA of 3.3+, demonstrated leadership, community service and extracurricular activities; Pell Grant eligible (must file for FAFSA). |
T. W Lewis Foundation | Deadline 1/15/15 | Based on academic achievement and character, values, and financial need. Must be admitted to Barrett Honors College at ASU. Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarship Program | Deadline 1/20/15 | Student may apply to one of four scholarships.. Most local chapters award minimum of $1000. Academic, leadership and community involvement. |
Arizona Elk Society | Deadline 1/30/15 | Arizona Seniors who actively participate in the preservation of hunting and are current members of the Arizona Elk Society. A copy of student current hunting license is required, minimum GPA of 2.7. Must be pursuing degree in/or related to wildlife science. |
Phoenix Chinese Week | Deadline 1/23/15 | Senior with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher and actively involved in the Chinese community. Four scholarships at $500 each. |
Executive Women International, Phoenix Chapter | January/ February | Female student. Academics/ Leadership. See college counselor—requires nomination and student resume. |
ASU Alumni Association’s Medallion Scholarship | Deadline 2/13/15 | Scholarship application opens up January 12th. Comprehensive program that incorporates a scholarship, leadership and community service commitment. Medallion Scholars receive $3,000 annual renewable award provided they maintain GPA requirements and participate in the mentorship program and community service activities. Eligibility is limited to ASU Dean’s Scholarship recipients. |
Scottsdale Community Collaborative | Open now- deadline 2/15 | $2,500 scholarship. Can be used at any 2 or 4 year college in Arizona. Based upon academic achievement, demonstrated community service, financial need and an essay. |
Scottsdale Healthcare Auxiliary Scholarship | Deadline 2/15 | Scottsdale healthcare Auxiliary sponsors this scholarship for volunteers with Scottsdale Healthcare Teen Program. Minimum 3.7 GPA and minimum of 100 community service hours completed at Scottsdale Healthcare Facility. |
Arizona PTA Scholarship | Deadline 2/15/15 | For seniors with financial need who are planning to attend an Arizona college. Minimum GPA of 3.0 |
Professional Athletes Foundation Scholarship |
Arrives in December/ deadline February | High school student athletes who will participate in athletics at the college level but will not obtain an athletic scholarship—typically D2-D3 colleges or community colleges. SportQuest Playing with Purpose Scholarship | Deadline 2/1/15 | Christian students who play at the varsity level. GPA of 2.0 or higher. Scholarship award $75-$2000. |
Arizona CPA Foundation for Education and Innovation | Date not updated on website | For students who plan to enter the accounting profession in Arizona. Based upon academic achievement, class ranking and test scores. Can be used at a community college or university. |
Dorrance Scholarship | Deadline 2/20/15 | First in family to attend a four-year college. Must attend college in state. Minimum GPA 3.0; SAT 1040 ACT 22. Demonstrated financial need. Scholarship up to $10,000 annually, renewable. |
100 club of Arizona | Opens January 2, 2015/ deadline March | Open to family members of full time public safety officers or firefighters serving in Arizona. |
